Opportunities

Postdoctoral Fellowships are available for highly motivated individuals interested in the following research areas: gastrointestinal physiology, the roles of the gut in health and cardiometabolic diseases, the regulation of gut lipid handling, or gut hormone biology. The ideal applicant will hold a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD with expertise in integrative physiology, metabolism, and animal models of disease. A solid background in physiology, systems biology, or cell/molecular biology is required. Experience in -omics is considered asset. The candidate will be expected to design and perform experiments, critically analyze data, and assume primary responsibility for writing and publishing scientific results. Excellent organizational and communication skills are prerequisites. To apply, please send a single PDF file that includes a brief cover letter, CV, research experience, and the names and contact information of three references to Dr. Xiao (changting.xiao@usask.ca).

The Integrative Physiology and Metabolism (iPAM) Lab is always interested in recruiting personnel wishing to pursue higher training in physiology, metabolism and metabolic diseases. Our lab employs technicians, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students (PhD and MSc) and undergraduate students (BSc honours degree, summer research, Dean’s Project). In addition, several visiting scholars and exchange students are routinely hosted. All potential candidates are encouraged to apply for internal (CoM, USask) and external (CIHR, NSERC, etc) salary awards (studentships/fellowships). To be successful in obtaining such highly competitive awards, a very strong CV is required. Therefore, we are seeking students with a deep interest in relevant fields, high CGPA/marks (above 85% for undergraduate/MSc/PhD student positions), relevant experience and skill sets, and excellent publication record (for post-doctoral positions).

Important Note: If you are an international (non-Canadian) applicant, additional academic, language and immigration requirements are highly likely in place. Such applicants might need additional time to complete all paperwork before arriving and commencing their training.

Candidates with research interest in integrative physiology and metabolic diseases are encouraged to contact the principal investigator for potential MSc, PhD and Post-doctoral fellow opportunities, by sending expression of interest and CV to Dr. Xiao (changting.xiao@usask.ca). They are also encouraged to visit the following links to familiarize with the admissions process.
