The Integrative Physiology and Metabolism (iPAM) Lab is dedicated to research in integrative physiology and metabolism. Through studying how body parts work in concert to maintain health and what goes wrong in diseases, we aim to identify therapeutic targets and devise novel approaches to the prevention and treatment of metabolic diseases. Research projects undertaken by an enthusiastic Team are supported by national, provincial, and institutional Funding. Enthusiastic candidates interested in graduate studies and post-doctoral fellowships are encouraged to check out our latest News, Publications, and potential Opportunities.

The University of Saskatchewan is one of Canada’s top research universities, a member of the U15 Group of Canadian Research Universities (the 15 most research-intensive universities in Canada), and runs one of Canada’s 17 medical schools.

Our lab is located at the Health Sciences Building, College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, SK. Saskatoon, nicknamed “Paris of the Prairies” and “Bridge City” and home of the ReMai Modern Museum, is the largest city in the central region of the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. Saskatoon is friendly and vibrant, welcoming people from around the world to live and study here.

Postdoctoral Fellowships are available for highly motivated individuals interested in the following research areas: gastrointestinal physiology, the roles of the gut in health and cardiometabolic diseases, the regulation of gut lipid handling, or gut hormone biology. The ideal applicant will hold a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD with expertise in integrative physiology, metabolism, and animal models of disease. A solid background in physiology, systems biology, or cell/molecular biology is required. Experience in -omics is considered asset. The candidate will be expected to design and perform experiments, critically analyze data, and assume primary responsibility for writing and publishing scientific results. Excellent organizational and communication skills are prerequisites. To apply, please send a single PDF file that includes a brief cover letter, CV, research experience, and the names and contact information of three references to Dr. Xiao (changting.xiao@usask.ca).
